Usually the point of thee trades is to try and pay less for the player than you normally would.....your taking on Ryan for pretty much no reason.....

I highly doubt Duchene would go for less than that... If the preds are offering Tolvanen and a 1st I prefer that offer if im Ottawa

No it doesn't. Adding Ryan to this deal makes no sense. Habs have to sign Duchene to at least 8M+ next year, you know that right? Ryan's buyout isn't cheap you know.

Habs don't have infinite cap space. They're losing only 2M in cap while taking on 13M.....

Nashville can still beat your offer, And i think Duchene winds up with the Preds. And can definitely see him signing there long term.

I can see Duchene getting 6-7 years in MTL if he goes to market after this. It makes sense for him to be close to home and playing competitive playoff hockey.

It makes zero sense to also pickup Ryan in the deal. Maybe if Ottawa also sent a prospect or a high round pick in exchange. Or Ottawa takes someone like Alzner...
