Seems fair. If you want the retain prolly gotta give a first instead of second.

I think the first two are pretty solid, maybe a 5th for DSP instead of a 6th. He can still contribute in a depth forward role and somebody might take a chance on him regaining his playoff form. The Hoffman trade seems fair on its face to me, but I don't have a great idea of how Hoffman is valued inside the FLA walls.

Those all get accepted in a heartbeat. Burakovsky is starting to kill penalties, and hasn't really gotten much of a shot on the power play through age 24 in Washington. Might be cheaper to just keep him. And Smith Pelly at no cap hit can stay in Hershey for the rest of the regular season now that he cleared waivers. Wouldn't let him go for less than a 2nd, at zero cap hit, if the goal here is to add goal scoring below the salary cap.

Moving Jaskin cheaply to make space for Hoffman without losing Burakovsky? Great.

Jaskin and a 1st, if there's enough retention.

That’s what made the Hoffman deal hard for me, they just asked him for a list of teams he’d accept a trade to

I don’t think Panthers are going to retain any salary unless the other team gives up more because remember they want as much cap as possible for Panarin and Bob

Okay cool, the burakovsky move was salary based would love to keep him and add Hoffman but I couldn’t think of any other reasonable way

This might not sound like me.... but I'm curious whether the team would clear more cap space by waiving Orpik, playing Bowey and Djoos down the stretch, and then recalling Orpik and Smith-Pelly for the playoffs. smile

it’s still hard it leaves 1.8 in free space. I’d still either have to add bura or they’d have to retain more and caps add a 1st plus probably a 3rd or 2nd

Not true. With him clearing means he can freely be called up and sent down. You see it happen all the time

That’s not always the case. Having him be free to be sent down without waivers adds value.

You're right. I messed with it more, and added Dowd to my Jaskin trade. Got 2.5M in cap space. https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1049636

My guess is that if they planned on making more moves, they would have pushed for full retention on Hagelin, so probably it's just for fun, but anyone up to $5M AAV, the team can get for Jaskin, Dowd, and futures. For a $6.5M player, add Boyd to the fire. smile

Adds just as much value for the team where he scored 7 even strength playoff goals, though, no? I mean..... I don't think Hagelin is a significant upgrade to the PK, compared to DSP, but having both is better than having either plus Jaskin.

Yeah. More offense, but is he ribbing Kuznetsov by stealing his Philadelphia Eagles celebration, or does he hate him? smile Also... the cap next year... so much easier to just keep Burakovsky, who's half as good, but several years younger, and might improve.

I’m sure it’s just all in fun, and I’d think the caps would move on from Niskanen next year so that’d free up some space... idk just a dream I guess haha

They could have gotten Pelly for free this morning. Why move a 6th for him this afternoon? His value < free.

DSP was on waivers, why would ANYBODY give up a pick for him now? "we didn't want him for free but now we will pay to get him" said no GM who kept their job ever.

I could see the Jaskin deal maybe.

Panthers say no to the Hoffman deal, they wont retain unless you vastly overpay, they want MORE cap space for next season not less. And if they don't retain the caps cant afford him, So they would have to find some cap savings for 2019 or abandon the deal.

I really like that Florida trade and think that Hoffman would be a sick fit for us. I’d swing for the fences with them and grab Brassard and Hoffman. Would be a big haul but would be worth it for sure
