Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Ferland, Micheal
Additional Details:
This is just as a base. Ferland has 5 less points in 8 less games and he brings an option of grit that Toronto don't need. His cap hit is going to be much cheaper then what Kapanen asks for and for the slightest bit less production it's worth it for me.

Ideally there are more assets to this trade then these two because I get it Kapanen has more value he's younger etc (despite the fact 12 of his 20 assists are secondary) this makes a lot of sense for both teams. Ferland is from ontario, Kasperi's dad (sami) made his name with Carolina it makes a lot of sense for both teams.
2.
CAR
  1. Zibanejad, Mika
Additional Details:
Before you go "oh this is a drastic underpayment" through 27 games in the NCAA Fox has 38 points.... Adam Fox is a defencemen. He's a powerhouse on the blue line and the picks help. Fox wants to go to New York and this works for both teams.

Again this is a base, please tell me what else you think needs to be added
NYR
  1. Fox, Adam
  2. Pu, Cliff
  3. 2019 2nd round pick (BUF)
  4. 2020 3rd round pick (BUF)

No on Leafs trade. Rather keep Kappy. Rangers deal.. I dont know. Rangers would likely want much more, Fox is a very good asset for them thats for sure.

Leafs may not have a choice. Kapanen will need to go if Marner gets 11 or more

They would sell him for cheaper assets, not a rental. The thing is.. Mitch Marner doesnt get 11+.. 10-10.5 is maybe overblown statement but I can see why.. between 9-10 is most likely.

The rangers have no reason to move on from Zibanejad. He's worth so much more on the ice than the trade market

Erm... I highly doubt that. Marner is arguably the most important forward the leafs have. He was expected to get maybe 8-9 before the season started, and now he's having the best year of his career. This is an Aho-esk situation. Marner will get more then 10. Hands down not a question. Ferland allows Toronto to have that grit while not deducting any skill, Kapanen doesn't make the 5/6 mil he's gonna soon, instead ferland should get something like a 3x3 or 4x4 type deal, and thats much more manageable. Leafs fans are so stuck on Kapanen, they seem to forget how many cheaper alternatives there will be

I thought Ferland wanted Wilson money? Also what are the rumors about Aho and his contract. I live in Leaf land so I only ever see that Mitch Marner will be the highest paid winger in the history of the NHL. For that matter what will Rantannen get? If I were either of those guys I'd be looking at the Marner contract very closely.

I like what you're thinking but I don' think Zibanejad is going anywhere. Rn, he is their entire team. He is also playing the best hockey of his career and NYR actually have a really good defense. Pionk and DeAngelo currently running the youth movement on the backend

First of all Aho is a C.... Marner will be the highest paid. Rantanen is a Mack product for the most part. Aho is expected around 9, Rantanen maybe 8, Marner will get 7 digits

My thinking with this is Fox wants to play in New York, he's an offensive Dynamo and he is just special. He's going to be elite and probably beat out Pionk and maybe even DeAngelo. I get they don't want to move Zibanejad but it was him Krieder or Hayes and I just picked the one that is the most fun to watch

Aho was a winger when he came up right?

He was, but he's been playing C this season, he was drafted as a C, he was played on the wing to get used to North American ice, but he was always a C
