Description

Ottawa gets another young forward and a buyout candidate who has a big buyout cap hit, but is really low in terms of actual cost (650k per year). Edmonton gets a useful top 9 forward and a pending UFA depth forward they are familiar with. Shorter contracts and 2 Million in cap space make it worth the cost of Puljujarvi.

Yes, but why does Lucic want to waive his NMC to go to a franchise that looks like it's going to be nothing but miserable the next 5 years

I can't see him doing it either. But if he did, he would, for the most part, be out of the spotlight and criticism for a time. Right now the focus is mainly on ownership, so his lack of points, playing, compete etc. Will go largely unnoticed which is a good change for him and perhaps revamps his game.

Plus, with the way the team is going, he could end up a useful Top 6 again and help the young guns.

I don't think you understand how buyouts work.

You need to add $11,500,000 in signing bonus to Lucic's salary, because it is not included in the buyout. So basically, he can't be bought out, except to save 2.5M on the next 19M he is owed.

Awfull contract. Nobody will trade for it. Next.
