Agreed, they're not contenders this year, no reason to waste assets on a rental this year.

FYI--Dorion set the market for this. Chevy is in need of the center. Gorton is only meeting the supply, and using the base of the Duchene deal as the demand setting.

Are they the same player? No. But, is this the market as it is set? Yes. So, buck up, and deal with the reality.

The reality is this team isn't winning a cup this year so wasting assets on a rental like Hayes would be pointless. They just look off this season and Hayes isn't gonna fix whatever is wrong with them, there's a lot to do to make this team a contender and there isn't time to fix it today.

It’s not about not wanting to go all in. It’s just not trading Appleton which thank goodness they didn’t do. Don’t go all in for Hayes, just not worth it. For stone, it would be understandable. Still don’t like them giving up Lemieux, this is a current roster player that is young. But at least it wasn’t more
