MIN doesn't need Petry. Also you're underpaying on Claesson.

Otherwise it's pretty good.

Agreed, we have Dumba who is a much better Petry.

We also aren't trading Fiala, Fenton has so much of a hard on for the guy he traded Granlund for him 1 for 1. I liked the 1 game Fiala has played for us so far, but we did not get as much for Granlund as we should have.

Agree Minny doesn't Petry, but it's just an idea, especially if they decide to trade Spurgeon. And I don't really know if I'm underpaying on Claesson, I agree he's really good but he's only played half the games this year and GMs seem to reallly undervalue him.

The trade would likely never happen, it's just an idea value-wise.

Agreed, MIN should've got a right shot depth player like Sissons or Hartman in the trade as well.

Well if I were NYR gm I'd demand a 3rd. Even though he's suffered from injuries, he has been pretty good.

And frankly I think you have Petry really underrated, if you think Dumba's much better. And btw yeah Granlund is great, even though I love Fiala, that's a yikes return

I 100% agree he's worth that. But seeing how undervalued he was in ottawa and how we couldn't give him away at the deadline tells me other GMs undervalue him. Similar to Chris wideman...who coincidentally was traded for a fifth round pick

Dumba was on pace for 30 goals (he's still in 8th place for defenseman with only 32 gp). He probably wouldn't have hit that mark, but there's a very high chance he'd have hit 20+. Since 05-06 he's one of five defenseman to score 10+ goals in three consecutive seasons through age 23. He's absolutely much better than Petry. That's not to say Petry is bad, though, cause Petry brings some good offense to the table.

When you add the term "Ottawa" to any sentence, you can expect mistakes. That team has made a number of them. This also makes comparing things what OTT does with other teams that have some sensibility left pretty futile.

GMs might undervalue Claesson, and I think it's possible to see Claesson being moved for a fifth, but I personally would demand a 3rd rounder.

Goalscoring yeah. Overall offense though, he doesn't stand out, him and Petry are pretty identical in point production (30 games is too small a sample size anyways when he hasn't passed 50 points in his other 3 full NHL seasons) He's a little younger but Petry's possession numbers are way better. In my books they're close to even

That's fair. But I'd at least try to get him on the cheap

You're entitled to your own opinion, but to me Dumba is a future Selke winner. It isn't fair to say he hasn't passed 50 points, he hit 50 points last year at age 22, lol. Petry's highest scoring season was 42 points at age 30... Petry's highest assist season came at age 30 as well and he's tied it again this year with 30 assists. Dumba had 36 assists last year.

Honestly think you are under valuing Petry and Danault. Petry more so because I'm not sold on Fiala, he is good but man he has to start playing the same way game in and game out.

Danaults value is way higher than two 2nd round picks. He is at the same pace as Bergeron at his age so selling him off for unsure futures isnt a smart move

Why are so many Habs fans selling off Danault for a bag of pucks and a roll of stick tape recently?!..

But Danault isn't that young and this is his first season passing 40 points. It's possible he'll get better. It's possible, this will be his best season and selling him now will give you most value

Seems pretty cheap for a 50+ point center...

Not really. Picks are worth more than you think. And Danault has never had this kind of production before so there's a lot of uncertainty

It could take years for those picks to amount to anything if they do at all. If that's all it takes to get Danault I'm sure he'd already of been traded, I bet teams would be lined up to get him.

Um what about 2nd round picks like Debrincat who have already become terrific players like 2, 3 years since they were drafted. The reality is teams might actually think that price is too high, and that's why he hasn't been traded...

Believe me I know all too well about Debrincat, don't need a reminder thanks.. Lol
But 2-2nds for a contending team or even just a good team looking to take a step is nothing really, center depth is so very important, if pro scouts couldn't see where Danault was trending and if GM'S aren't willing to part with a couple 2nds for an excellent center on a cheap contract then it's no wonder teams don't improve. Apparently Pittsburgh was looking for a center, you've gotta think they would of happily coughed up 2-2nds for Danault.
