    laugh laugh Trouba will easily get 7 x 7.5 on the open market in 2020, No way in hell he takes 5 x 6 from the Rangers that eats 1 RFA year and 4 UFA years. And that's not nearly enough for a Trouba extension Detroit would easily beat that offer.

    Marner is seeking Eichel money, No way in hell Marner takes slightly more then what Nylander received.

    Have you seen what goes on in this site? I’m expected to assume everything is sarcasm? No. If you’re trying to be clever, be clever

    Marner could get 8 years 9-$10M, meaning a team would have to offer him in the 70 range over 7 years but it would cost 3 first round picks I believe based off RFA compensation. Don’t think Rangers could do that, maybe they work out a trade for his rights that costs less in trade value?

    Also you can’t trade your 2021 first rounder if you’re offer sheeting Marner

    Kucherov signed for $9.5 million per, plus Marner’s marketing/endorsement opportunities as a young star in NYC would be limitless, so I think $9.75 million per gets it done.

    1. He’s not better than Kucherov;
    2. He’s not a UFA, so his bargaining power is limited to the teams that the Leafs would trade his right to.

    No. He can talk to anyone. Offer sheets rarely happen, but they are allowed. Look st what Matthews just signed. For 8 years the talks start at 11

    If $9.75M was all it took, the Leafs would keep him, The problem is his camp is looking for in excess of $10M+

    He can talk to anyone, but as someone already pointed out on this string - nobody’s gonna give up 4 first round draft picks to offer sheet Marner - so he’s going to have to find someone who will pay him top dollar AND is able to meet the Leaf’s asking price for his rights (which, considering their cap situation, will have to be high draft picks and/or young players on cheap contracts).

    Not sure how the Leaf’s could keep him at that number, as they have almost $90 million in cap chargers committed to 17 roster spots next year (according to this site), plus Kappanen and A. Johnsson to sign as RFAs.

    Regardless, as I just read that Gary Bettman has estimated that the cap will increase to $83 million, and my roster supposes an $82 million cap for next season, I will adjust and give the extra million to young Mitchell for an AAV of $10.75 million. Does that get it done, boys?
