Initial Creation Date: Mar. 6, 2019
Published: Mar. 6, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
marner is arguably better than matthews.....gets a comparable contract

Kapanen is on pace for 50-60 points ....players like Evander Kane and Guentzel...cough cough nylander

nylander is a .67 ppg player and this season hes .42ppg

KAPANEN is a .42 ppg career and this season hes .64ppg

JOHNSSON is a career/this season .57ppg

if nylander makes about 7 million based off those numbers thats how I would value kap and aj

all that being said this is imo the worse case scenario.....and they are only 4.5 million over the cap. its not nearly as bad as you would think esp since most of the contracts would be 1-2 million higher than reality

You need to factor in who those guys play with, I'm sure someone cheaper can play with Matthews and still put up 50. This is why I don't see them getting near that money.

A powerplay merchant RW is arguably better than the best 5v5 scorer in the game?

Yeak ok.

If you're doing comparable shouldn't Pastrank and Kucherov be brought into the conversation for right wingers? Players who are were about to become UFAs or one year from being a UFA shouldn't be compared to players coming off their ELCs.

stupid comment as usual .....

marner has 20% of his points on the power play

Austin matthews hes 26% of his points from the power play

and marner drives the play and creates offense the same if not better than matthews

idk why I respond to you bc you just blindly state stupid things all the time....... so that being said is marner earn a lower percent of points on the power play

also Jake guentzel has the 2nd most 5v5 goals this year ...... is he better than matthews now?

you could but then you have to factor in state tax and why its more manageable to sign such to a lower contract....pasta is a solid contract but again title is no discounts and that wouldn't apply to the theme

Every time I see Matthews score its because he's right in front of the net while Marner is out there working his butt off all over the ice every game.

Tell me Marner is worse than Matthews

Tyler Ennis is a .516 ppg and .425 ppg this season mostly on the fourth line, give him and extra 200K and 2 years and he can play along Mathews. Cap problem solved.

Marner is worse. If you only see Matthews score in front of the net you either don't watch or don't pay attention.

How is what I've said stupid?

There is a reason why I said Matthews is the best 5v5 scorer in the league.

For their careers: Marner had 45% of points via the PP, Matthews only 26%. (Of Matthews' 104 goals, 80 have been 5v5 that's 77%)

You can't look at 2/3 of one year and come to this conclusion.

Besides that, you can't really compare them, one is a shoot first sniper, the other is a past first playmaker.

You watching them doesn't mean anything.

And Marner is worse than Matthews.

Dubus has already said that a centerman will make more that was directed at the Marner camp.

That's why Mathews makes more he know where to go and stay open Marner needs to try or and fight for the puck to get it. The puck finds Mathews this the difference between one making more and one will make less.

hard to back that statement up when marner will break 100 points and matthews hasnt come close to 100 points yet....... or just in general what a 100 point player would make

Many things wrong here:

Matthews plays with worse linemates (Kapanen and Johnsson), whereas Marner plays with Tavares and Hyman, and Matthews missed 10+ games this year, so the 100+ point argument is flawed.

no flaw...... matthews hasnt reached 100 points......injuries are a part of hockey and unfortunately hes been hurt 2x. fact is that marner will hit a milestone matthews hasnt. and both his line mates are very good

Carlson was really good before his big deal, plus he is a RHD, meaning he would have gotten paid either way

Neal was paid due to his goalscoring record, not because of this time in Vegas

A large reason why Marner will hit 100 points is due to the PP and Tavares, and staying healthy. His QoT is a large elevation factor. That's simply what it is.

no they had very good seasons. Carlson was a 30-40 point dman then he had one very impressive season and got 8 million..........but regardless players them and many other cash in after 1 great season

he has 18 ppp of his 82 total points ....... thats hardly due to power play points. marner is 5th in the nhl in esp.....5th
