Team: 2019-20 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 26, 2019
Published: Mar. 11, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Assuming the cap will go up to 83M (will still work at 73.5M). Sad to see Krug go but he's going to want a monster contract that the Bruins can't pay. Nordstrom could fetch a 3rd and if worse comes to worse we can either keep him or trade him for a 4th. Backes is shipped to Colorado with Celarik and a 2nd for a prospect. Colorado needs depth if they want to make a push. They are also most likely going to get one of Kakko or Hughes so Jost isn't a big loss. To me, Kappanen is worth a 2nd and Toronto has no room to match the 4M offer

Hard pass. I wouldnt take on Backes for a 2nd and Cehlárik...and you think you are going to get Jost while getting rid of Backes and that horrible contract. You are really undervaluing Jost and undervaluing how much yuo have to give up to get rid of Backes

plus you ratioanle behind the trade is wild...Avs want depth so they trade for an AHL guy and a over paid guy who is forced to be a fighter just to stay in the NHL? Thats not depth.

I will trade you Santini, a better 2020 1st rounder and a 2019 2nd rounder for Torey Krug to go to the Devils.

He's got 1 point in his last 9 - he's a prospect. Chelarik is too. Backes can still play on a 3rd line - he's a depth guy now but yes, his contract is horrible. Definitely not worth his contract. But the avs have the cap and to compensate I put in a 2nd rounder.

The trade is bad, but cehlarik is not an ahl guy. Backes is closer to being an ahl guy than he is

Just stop at 9 games huh, the fact in 10 games he has 4 points, 11 games he has 5 points etc. Jost is the better "prospect" and the better player compared to Backes. You have to give up some big time assets just to get rid of Backes...and then even better to get a young player like Jost.

You are so far off the value here and the rationale on this one. Its a terrible bruins homer trade here

Core is still intact. Pasternak Carlo McAvoy are now singed long term and Studnicka is brought up. 1st and 4th line stay the same. Kappanen comes in as that top 6 winger for Kredji to solidify that 2nd line.

cehlarik was in the AHL the majority of this season, I know the bruins are good so it would be tough to find a role on the NHL roster but hes not at the same level as a guy like Jost which this guy is calling him a prospect just liek cehlarik

Alright fair point. If the avs were to give up a lesser prospect would you do it?

god no, Backes is terrible and is paid 6m for 2 more years as a 35 year old next season. Bruins would have to give up better than a 2nd and Cehlárik to get rid of Backes, Avs would give up much much much less to take on that boat anchor of a contract...thats how these things work

Alright maybe not your Avs but someone will bite on that. Backes is a cap dumb but Chelarik is NHL worthy and a 2nd is also added. Wouldn't be surprised if some team like NYR or ARZ takes that (assuming Backes waives). They have got the cap and they are rebuilding.

And he’s wrong. Both are nhl players. I think cehlarik has a really well rounded game, and as of today prefer him over Jost. Obviously jost has much more potential

other teams might but not the Avs. They have cap space right now bc they have planned for it to be open so they can start to pay their own young guys like Rants, Girard, Compher, Kerfoot, Jost, Zadorov. 6m of dead usless cap space in Backes...you have to really make it worth it for a team like the Avs. And you arent getting any young talent back for it

Well, let’s cool it with Kapanen, because the leafs match instantly, so that’s not happening. Chara is for sure coming back. I’m not opposed to moving Krug, but I would rather just keep him for a year and lose him in ufa. He’s turned a corner this year

I can agree with you on Chara. He definitely could come back but on a team friendly deal. But If Toronto matches the Kappanen, Johnsson is going to want the same deal. And for Krug, he's a very good player but in the cap era there's not enough money for him to sign in Boston. I'd rather trade him for value rather than risk losing him for nothing at free agency

This group doesn’t have too many years left. Run it up for next season, and then let him walk. Treat him as a self rental

Any thread that has Joakim Nordstrom worth a 3rd round pick is total homerism. The guy has 8 points in 58 games and waaaayyyy too many of those games he's been playing in the top 9 with superior players. Backes, Acciari, Wagner, Kuraly, pretty much any checker on the team is superior to him in a checking role and he doesn't have the talent to hold up in the top 9 as he's proven this year. His shooting percentage is 5.5% aka .1% better than Zdeno Chara (5.4%) who's mostly shooting from the blue line. The guy is just an absolute tweener who doesn't fit any role very well so it's impossible to think a team would honestly give up the chance to draft a potential top 6 talent who drops in the draft in order to secure Nordstrom, a man which they could have signed for free last offseason if they were willing to outbid Boston's 1M offer. Nothing he's done this year has inflated his value imo, he's been unimpressive at best.
