Edmonton missed the playoffs with McDavid and Draisaitl they can miss them without them as well. I am not recommending trading away one of the top centers but the Oilers won a cup after Gretzky was traded away.
If you follow the McDavid trade it is essentially O'Reilly, Parayko, Nelson (because cap was cleared after moving Lucic with the first from STL) for McDavid and Lucic. #1 center, #1 Defenseman, #2 center.
Adding Gallagher, and Drouin for Draisaitl this finally gives the Oilers two top lines.
That is a really good offer for Butcher maybe more than needed but IMO a team would need to over pay to get him.
I get to watch Brown too often, he is perfect as a 4th line winger with a really good Corsi %.
IMO this team is better (BTW I am not a fan of O'Reilly, maybe you could get Tarasenko instead) with a MUCH better defense and two good scoring lines.
Instead of buying out Sekera, I wonder if Betterall would give you Hunwick for him. Sekera (then the cap hit will be shortened) is a little over paid but is he would be the Sabres #2 LHD.
You built a really good team, greatly improved defense, upgraded the 4th line, and gave the team 2 good top lines. Five stars if I could give it to you.

If the oilers are ever going to trade Mcdavid, they’d include some bad contracts going the other way, such as lucic and Sekera. Not to mention, this trade doesn’t really significantly improve the oilers. They signed Brock Nelson in free agency, which could be done without trading McDavid/Drai and their second line would look the exact same without trading those two guys. I’d rather have a top line with McDavid/Drai than O’Reilly/Gallagher/Drouin tbh. As for their defence idk why NJD would make that trade, so really their only addition is Parayko, which would be great, but not at the cost of the best player in the world.
