35,000 under the cap and still a player under the roster limit isn't really "making it work"

Instead of buying him out, move calahan. If you can't, move one of johnsson, Palat, or miller

If Tampa wins the cup this year would Callahan opt out of his no move to get traded?? Because if he doesn't he could be the reason this team doesn't get to stay together long term just for him to have one more year in Tampa Bay?? In the end its his decision. Thoughts?

Surely you can re-up Ruuta for a reasonable amount under $3M? Hasn't he played well enough for you?

Tampa's cap problem exists precisely because those three players have NTC's.

fair. I didn't know it was limited. I think he goes to BUF with possibly Miller? Add a first an bring Ristolainen in?

TBL would be better off trading Callahan instead of buying him out. Even if it costs them a pick or prospect its worth the extra cap space that could help them get a cup

That might be a bit of overpayment. Yes either Buffalo or Rangers.
