Kreids

Initial Creation Date: Apr. 5, 2019
Published: Apr. 5, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I see Kapanen+Lindgren/Borgman+2nd round pick as a good value for Kreider. Also.. Marleau orpiked in this scenario and for those saying league would investigate it, this is the way they are investigating stuff:

NHL: "did you arranged that with each other?"
Dubas: "Nope"
Shero: "Nope"
NHL: "fine, thanks for honesty guys" lol

in all seriousness I doubt it happens but here is if it does happen and Leafs would go back to drawing board with NYR about Kreider at draft.

I'd rather have Kapanen than Kreider. He's cheaper and similar player. Kreider is hardly an upgrade over Kap.

Point wise sure, but certainly not presence! Especially with star line mates, i think his twins would grow perms overnight smile

Value wise I'd say it's pretty close. Maybe a slight overpayment but no trade is ever 50/50.. I think Kapanen and especially Lindgren are more valuable to the Leafs though cause they're younger, cheaper, and under team control longer. Kreider can walk to UFA in a year and command a big raise, then Toronto walks away with nothing long term outta this deal. I think Lindgren is a very underrated prospect. He's very good at moving the puck, I think even better than Liljegren, just needs some work on his defence and he'll be a good 4-5 d-man. I'd find it hard to give him and Kapanen up who is gonna be a top 6 guy on a very reasonable contract for a long time, for just a 1 year rental

Sorry Sami, that is horrid deal for Kapanen. Believe Kapanen is under Leafs control for five years, and Kreider is on year away from UFA,
I know Stralman can sign with any team he wants, but wouldn't Buffalo (and Stralman) be better off just signing with Buffalo for 4m?, instead of signing with he Leafs.
I don't mind Zaitsev and his contract as a Leaf, but it's almost impossible to believe that another teams takes his cap hit or most of and term without sending money back to the Leafs. Teams would prefer to keep that cap space and spend it elsewhere. If Nelson is a competent NHLer, why to the Sabres make that trade? If Nelson isn't competent for full time duty why do the Leafs make that trade?

Ummm no... Kap is a RFA this offseason....
Or another words... TML cant afford to keep him..
That's not 5 years of control....
(Funny you're only a know it all when it serves you....)

Then you don't understand what "control" means or RFAs. What nonsense that the Leafs can't afford Kapanen. C'mon, no one believes that self serving logic you proposed. The Leafs can certainly sign all their RFAs this summer. Actually if Marleau retires, and then his cap traded the Leafs are virtually cap compliant. But even if Marleau stays a Leafs the Leafs can still sign their RFAs, but would have to trade 6,5m worth of players. Either way Kapanen trade value is for for five years before he becomes a UFA.
(Funny, you're only a know it all when you don't know the CBA .). If the CBA is so meaningless to you, we might as all play your silly game, and have the cap 100m next season.

Yea you must be right.... nobody anywhere else thinks TML is having cap issues....
Utter nonsense....

Haha.... yous guys....

I have been wishing for TML to be more a successful meaningful franchise.... just forgot what comes with even a little success in Leaf land....

Oh, I agree the Leafs have cap issues, as I said I reckon they are 6.5m over cap next season. But it deliberate nonsense or just lack of non knowledge that the Leaf can't sign their RFAs including Kapanen.
They can sign them this sign and them make trades to becap compliant. Leafs and other teams, just don't let valuable RFAs leave as UFA because they are over the cap during the summer.
Tampa will be over the cap if they sign Point before they Miller or Gourde. Do you expect them just let Point "walk" if they over the cap on July 12th? A team isn't actually over the cap till October when their 23 man roster is set.
Haha you guys who know nothing about the cap and how roster are constructed.
