What a surprising playoff ... Which big upsets did we see last year? I don't think we saw any BIG upsets. This year we've probably already seen 4 (CBJ, COL, CAR, and DAL). Wow.

As a fan, I'm not giving up on this team ... they've surprised so many people all year (including me), and it looks like they're done, but I'm not so sure about that.

What happened to Clutterbuck? He got helped off the ice after the game but he wasn't even on the ice!

When Bortuzzo and Lindell got penalties, why didn't it go 4-on-3? When do penalties take players off the ice and when don't they?

1st period thoughts:

Islanders got off to a good start and then Komarov took a dumb penalty and Carolina scored. Barzal had a pretty good period. He scored the opening goal if my memory is correct (I'm 99% sure it was Barzal) and he also got some other chances.

Overall, it was a pretty good period by the Islanders. I think they outplayed Carolina, but not by enough. They're down 3-0 in the series. Last game was a super important game for the Isles and they lost. Now this is a real must-win. A loss ends their season.

I like what I saw of the Islanders defensively for the most part. Their team defence has been good. They've been missing chances though, and they need to try and score some goals.

It's not easy, I know that. Overall, it was a pretty good period by the Islanders.

For Carolina, I noticed Slavin made some good plays and McElhinney had a good period.

As an Isles fan, hopefully they can score a few goals in the 2nd and keep Carolina off the scoreboard like they did for most of the 1st. I actually agree with the decision to start Lehner. So far, he hasn't been amazing this game but he's only faced 5 shots. He's not the reason they're down 3-0. He's the reason the games were close, and without Lehner, they probably wouldn't have even come close to beating Carolina in those games.

The Islanders stopped playing. They're playing like it's a preseason game. This isn't an NHL team right now. Start playing. Seriously.

Seriously though, the Islanders have been playing absolutely horrible. They aren't playing like a team who swept round 1.

First, why didn't I get a notification? Also, I know people can get updates in other places. I'm trying to get discussion going but none seems to be. Last year in the playoffs discussion thread there was a lot of discussion, so I don't know what's happened this year.
