Trouba at most is worth only $7.5 million per, And probably slightly less then that. But it wouldn't shock me if he gets closer to $8 million per.

Maybe we can stand to lose those assets but why would we if we don't need to? There is no point in going full Holmgren and leaving us with nothing in the cupboards again.

I consider the 'overpay' to be the out bidding other teams part of the deal. In not sure there's anything here that is especially egregious either. Our cupboard still has Farabee in it on this team plus Myers and Frost are still rookies on this team. The team is also in place for a good few years being only depth to congee in while you try and draft more players.

Giving up good assets for lesser players is a great way to go backwards. Voracek is the best player in that trade. #11 OA + Ghost is a huge overpayment for Trouba, let alone throwing in Rubstov. And as for Toffoli, he is a borderline 2nd line guy who is super inconsistent and relies on other players to prop him up.

I thought the Leafs were the only team that had to overpay for a RHD....nope. Toffoli? He's been bad for few years.
