Trading up with EDM

Description
Trying to figure out some scenarios where the Wild trade up. Edmonton could be a good team to do that with since they need wingers and Zucker could be a great addition for them. Zucker lacks creativity but if he's on a line with guys that can get him the puck, look for him to repeat his 33 goal season. Edmonton has a bunch of playmakers to do that with.

Overall a risky trade, but could work out if Puljujarvi becomes a 2nd line player at the very least. I have my doubts about that, though.

Wild need a center desperately, so I'd only be happy doing this if one of Zegras, Turcotte, Cozens, or Dach are available. Consensus seems to be that Cozens is the 2nd best center in the draft (personally I don't agree), so he might not be there, but I included all 4 since they honestly could go anywhere from picks 3-10.
Trades
MIN

Additional Details:

Might be considered if MIN takes on some salary dumps so EDM can sign more UFAs to fill holes

Understandable, but I think we'd want another quality piece (maybe another pick) in return for taking cap dumps.

I would rather have one of those 4 prospects over Zucker.

But you're also getting the 12th overall pick... So you get Zucker plus still another good prospect for moving back 4 spots and getting rid of a guy that doesn't want to be in Edmonton anyways. Personally I thought the Wild were getting fleeced...

Russell and our first for Zucker and your first? Oilers will probably need to send some cap back in a deal like this

Hmm.. Doesn't really fit what the Wild are trying to do (get younger/rebuild). We could probably take back Kassian of we keep the trade I have (so Pul, 8, Kass for Zuck and 12)

I understand where you are coming from but Zucker is a 50 point guy who is making 5.5M for 4 more years. All 4 of those guys who you mentioned have the capability of being 50 point guys easily. That and I am not ready to give up on Puljujärvi yet. The Oilers are 2 years away from being a contending team due to bad contracts, by then those draft picks will be ready to contribute and at a fraction of Zuckers cost. If the Oilers were a bonafide cup contender then I agree with your trade.

I agree. If Edmonton has a chance to draft Zegras, Turcotte, Cozens, or Dach they will hang onto the pick unless the offer is absolutely outstanding. I believe this is particularly true because while their prospect pool is much improved, they don't have enough young, talented, forwards. Zucker would be a great acquisition for them, but not enough if they have to move Puljujarvi, move down in the draft order, and take on more salary. I suspect the Oilers would expect the Wild to take on salary. Not sure which salaries it would be; Lucic doesn't make any sense for Minnesota, and neither do Russell or Sekera. That leaves Manning and Gagner, but they represent only one more season of pain. I don't think there is a trade to be had with the pieces suggested.
