moves to bolster lineup

Created by: blanche
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 19, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Columbus resigns its core, after a long playoff run. They replenish the cupboard with two great prospects along with 1st pick and a second. Mtl, stays young both pics, 25yr old coming into his own and 24yr old who is defensively responsible and will add offense.

Byron to Edmonton frees up some cap space for next season, while I hate to see him go he will fit in well with Edmonton.
Adding Hutton adds a very capable back up, get him back to 30 games a year like in St Louis...not a bad contract for two seasons while Primeau develops hopefully to the NHL. Price plays 50-60 games and is ready to go for playoffs.
While substracting some cap and a year by moving Shaw, I needed to make room for Lekhonen. He will fit in nicely in Buffalo and has a serviceable contract. Buffalo goes Brobosky shopping...gotta keep Eichel happy.

These trades are horrible for the Habs.
1) Ryan Murray is overrated and probably a bust.
2) The Habs don't need another goalie. (Price, Lindgren, Primeau, McNiven)
3) That Edmonton wins that Byron trade. Byron might be what the Oilers need: a speedy winger to play with McDavid (even though he's not a 1st line player).

the minute you put Romanov in the deal you killed it .
you simply dont understand how much better then Sergachev he is and this time we're keeping him .

-3rd generation hockey player.
-grandson of the mark messier of russian hockey (and i mean Russian hockey not North American with Russian Skaters )
-reigning KHL Gagarin Cup Winner his Rookie season
-WJC Best Defensemen
-WJC Best +/-
-WJC most assists
-WJC most points by Defensmen
-WJC All Star Team

The kid just turned 19 three months ago starting the year as a green 18 year old that outside MTL and Bob Mckenzie , a lot of people doubted or undervalued.

Your wrong on Murray. Playing with a veteran Weber, he is 25 and time to sign him long term and reap the rewards later. Montreal misses the playoff this year because we had a horrible back up goalie, I don't see Lindgren being any better. Hutton as a backup up had great numbers in St Louis, we can afford him and Primeau hopefully develops in two seasons in the minors. Lindgren no longer fits in. If you pay attention to the expiring contracts, money from Weise and Gagner get funneled to Domi's expiring contract, he should get a 6.5 to 6.8 million long term contract. The following season, Petry is in his last year, hopefully Jullsen is ready to progress to second pairing minutes and we move Petry at deadline for picks. Our third line right defense minutes get replaced by Fleury or Brooks.
Petry money goes to Gallagher. I see Wennberg as a possible experiment a la Domi. Wennberg is right handed center which we need. I can see him moving to right wing in his second year making room hopefully for Poehling and Kotkaniemi. Serviceable contract, change of scenery and get out from under Torts.
I agree losing Byron hurts but where is he gonna play. Maybe we get a pick back in the trade or a prospect...but the trade frees up cap space. I just don't see where he fits in the lineup other than 4th line minutes.
Romanov may never play in the NHL.
