I bet they match anything under 12 and a 12 million dollar winger isn't a very smart plan and I think all GM's understand this.

I'd sign marner to a 12.5mil AAV alllllll day long. how do you not??? he's 21, just put up 90+ points, has shown development all three years in the league, and he's an ABSOLUTE gamer! Imagine a first line of G Coots and Marner buzzing around??

Still doesn't have anything to do with Marner, who clearly has a huge affect on the game. I know centers historically get paid more than wingers, but what does that point have anything to do with why we should sign Marner and it shouldn't matter that it's 12.5 mil a year?
