Just a different approach. Trouba seems like the main target but I figure I’d try giving a Subban swap a try...

I like the basis of this trade. However, Subban has seen his better years and they are behind him. He’s getting paid $9,000,000 for the next few years when in reality he’s playing like he should be making $5,000,000. I like the idea but I don’t think this is good in the long run.

A rental, a negative value camp dump and a first for Subban? Ya, the Rangers should love that trade. Can't say the same for Nashville.

I feel like subban is just to sell a name and a face to the fan base and not hockey related. That being said he is better than Shattenkirk but 3 million better probably not. Its the kind of move the rangers make but you can sell Shattenkirk without adding cap and try and buy the breadman instead if you really want a superstar.

Your way off base. I guess I should have stated this but a Kreider extension would be involved. Also Shattenkirk is not a cap dump he’s an effective 2nd pair defensemen (overpaid, overrated, but still effective) and a first for someone who is also overpaid and who has been underperforming. Nashville needs a shakeup and this is a fair deal...

I mean as you see here both are feasible to have under the Rangers current cap situation...

That’s an overpay. To top 6 wingers, a Top 4 D and a first for an underperforming elite player...

still though, teams don't really pay a premium for having to negotiate extensions. They're still paying rental prices. Look at the deal that Mark Stone got. Was that the price of 9 years of Mark Stone? No, that was a rental price. Shattenkirk is flat out awful. It's amazing how teams get so much better the second they get rid of him.

Fair point regarding the extension situation but I’m gonna have to disagree with you regarding Shatty. If he was paid 4-4.5 mil no one would be complaining. It isn’t a Lucic, Redden, Staal/Girardi situation...

okay but still one of the top 6 wingers will be 29 next season and is a pending UFA. the other is a talented but still a pretty unproven player.

shattenkirk is 30 and overpaid just like Subban so it just doesnt make sense for Nashville...their D is fine, if their gunna take on an overpaid player it will be a forward not a dman...also imo if they trade Subban its going to be for younger players than shattenkirk and kreider. Nashville already has one of the older teams in the league...they can just replace Subban with Fabbro no need for shattenkirk at all

the first round pick is valuable but its still outside the top 20

do you want 15 million dollars on 2 dmen that seem to be overpaid though. subban is worth what 7 maybe and shatty 5.5 so your out like 3 million that could be the difference in a top 6 winger

But Shatty is going the other way in the Trade. I’m not sure I understand your point?
