Giorgiev is a stud and Kreider has pretty good value. If your taking back Neals negative value contract, you gave up way too much for Hanifin. I'd be leary about trading Giorgiev who looked like he can be a star in this league after Lundqvist retires.

I agree with this, but at the same time we do have Shesterkin, Huska, Wall and Lindbom (Benoit Allaire apparently called them super excited abot the lindbom pick which in itself is impressive).

We'd be getting a defenseman capable of playing first line minutes in Hanifin and his contract is for 5 seasons at a very reasonable cap hit (less than Skjei).. this would also push skjei into a better role as a 2nd pairing defenseman. Our left side would be set once miller comes around and it would also make one of Hajek or Lindgren expendable as trade chips that are NHL ready. With the state of our defense and our high caliber offensive prospects (#2 overall pick, kravtsov, chytil) our good prospects (andersson, howden, lemieux) and current NHL players (buchnevich, zibanejad) with the signing of panarin, this is a dangerous team. I do think we need to get rid of shattenkirk somehow and make a play for trouba.

If we do this at the draft:
Hanifin+Neal for Kreider (w/ extension)+Vesey + Georgiev + tampas 2nd this year, it'd be a steal for the rangers. Neal could out produce kreider, and vesey+georgiev+2nd is worth less than hanifin

I think that this is honestly such a balanced trade because it fills needs that Calgary has and their Goaltending could be set for the future. If they wanted a defensemen I could add Pionk, I forgot to add him to the trade before and adding a skilled winger in Kreider and then theres Vesey. It could be a trade that actually happens.

Hawks aren't interested in both centers. Maybe Strome for a 3rd, but the return for either of these guys isn't a 2nd.

I understand the thought process but to suggest an about to be 32 year old Neal who is declining with 7 goals last year and not a great skater could out produce a 28 year old Kreider who potted in 28 goals last year isn't rational.

Giving up on a proven goalie who looked stellar for promising goalies in the system isn't smart either for what your giving up in my non-professional opinion. Hanifin had a less-than stellar season with Calgary. Good but not a number 1 guy when Giorgiev has looked like a top tier goalie.

Not my team but taking on Neal's terrible contract for a hail mary rebound from him for a good 2-3 defenseman when your giving up a very promising and proven NHL goalie and a 28 goal scorer wouldn't be ideal.

But hey, if hanifin turns into the number 1 guy that he was supposed to be then i'll eat my words but I just don't see it with the way last season went.

Yea but the Rangers have a lot of good goalie prospects and for the Rangers to extend Kreider would be a mistake, so it's just a way to open up spots for other players and Hanifin is only 22 so he has plenty of time to grow on a reasonable contract if everything works out

He is a young LHD who is on a super team friendly contract and the Rangers have the assets that Calgary needs, its a win win
