Thanks BCAPP, I have another one on my bandwagon of order of departures from the Leafs
About 6.5 to 7m in net cap has to go
1. A retired Marleau but only a RETIRED Marleau solves a lot a cap problem
2, Nylander. Some team that will take his 7m cap, but may be happy with 4.9m per year cash payout. But it's trading him with no cash back is the problem. The return to Leafs will be small..
3. Then it's combo as suggested...Kadri and Brown maybe
4. Zaitsev seems like a long shot to be traded . Although he may worth close to his 4.5m cap hit, no teams would probably be interested in his long term. Fact is the Leafs have no one to take his place and like or not there are no 1m competent NHL replacements.
Either way the Leafs aren't going as good as last year. No Gardiner and Hainsey, and their replacements wouldn't be NHL as good next year. Dermot and Hyman injured.. Plus the necessary cap trade of few player(s) to be cap compliant.
