don't see why ANA does that and NSH trade doesn't really make sense for us, Lindgren can play.

I mean I’d rather have Lindgren play important minutes in Hartford then be on the bench in the NHL.

Yeah I think your right about Anaheim. Probably not enough assets to convince them to take on the extra money...

Gotcha. Maybe. Me, for one, hopes that he will be. He’s a solid experienced dman to play with Fox. I suppose you could have both: play Lindgren on the third pair and have Claesson be 7D...

Essentially the Leafs are trading 22 year old Kaspari Kapenen and a prospect for a 6-7 defenseman in Neal Pionk and 39 year old Patrick Marleau. Why would they ever do that?

I dont know about including Lindgren, but Pionk and some whatever pick for Kapanen and ALL of Marleau's +6mil cap hit off the books does have considerable value. The buyout would have to happen before his signing bonus is paid so the Rangers would be blowing $4.25mil (not a problem for them). There's no way Toronto can keep all of Kapanen, Johnsson, Marner, and Nylander, and thats not even with Marleau on the books

I mean if you want to keep Lindgren that’s fine. But there clearing near probably 6 or 7 mil in cap and getting a position of need. As Dan said, the Leafs are in cap he’ll and need to make sacrifices. Who you rather give up superstar Marner or one of the younger guys like Kappy or Johnsson who will never be Marners caliber? Also Pionk is much more valuable then a 6-7D guy. He’s had his struggles but he produces offense and moves the puck...

As well as the fact there keeping Marleau at at probably an 1/8th of the cost...

Admittedly don't know much about Pionk. But playing 21ish minutes a night as a 23 year old? There must be something there.

I'd definitely think about it.
