Maatta was scratched more then Hudon
to be honest if he wasnt Finnish MTL wouldnt even consider him because he's barely a #4 D which honestly Kulak plays better.

Maatta maybe worth a 2nd pick and a RFA we dont plan on re-signing but even then someone's over paying given how horribly slow he is in a league getting faster by the year.

its 23rd overall juulsen alone under normal circumstances would be enough (still untested at NHL post eye injury)
a top RD prospect like him is sought after because unlike most D who play his style Juulsen is very agile for his size and mature for his age choosing to draw penalties rather then retaliate similar to Web er .

that being said i think its easier just to acquire VGK pick 17th overall and land Suzuki early .
VGK is already almost 3m over cap for next season with only 17/23 spots filled not including Schuldt,Gusev,Nosek,Subban and Karlsson who are RFA as well as Engelland ,Bellmare and Pirri who are UFA

VGK needs someone to take on Eakin's cap as well as Haula or Reaves just so they have enough cap to hopefully sign Karlsson , Nosek and Schuldt .
if you offered VGK a chance to dump cap and change their 1st into two 2nd rounders then they'd do it.(after signing their top 6 longterm and 3/4 D they are strapped)

The 1st? I agree wholeheartedly. Maatta? Yeah....... ok. Byron is a perennial 20 goal scorer on a nice contract, Juulsen is a former 1st round pick. We're not talking peanuts here. Maatta has been a healthy scratch and is probably the most likely trade target for the Pittsburgh.....
