Couple things. If you're trading for Kapanen's rights, you'll be able to sign him for around 3M. An offersheet would be around the higher 4s. Also if you're gonna sign Filppula, sign him for one year instead of two, just in case you don't make the playoffs and have to trade him. Nurse won't be cheap and you want enough cap space to sign someone else in 2020.
Add:
Salary might be high for Dzingle, term is risky for sure.
Too much salary, and way too much term for Chiasson; he should also be a third line forward.
Probably a bit high on salary for Puljujarvi, and term should be two years.
Probably better off leaving Starrett in the minors and bringing in a veteran for $1,500,000 x 1
May want to play Jones on the bottom pair.
If money is saved on Dzingle, Kapanen, Chiasson, and Puljujarvi, (say $2,750,000 to $3,000,000) there may be enough cap space to improve upon Cave, or add a decent veteran depth defenseman. May even be able to trade a player like Kris Russell and acquire a less expensive RHD instead. might also get a late draft pick, or even future consideration for Gagner. Doesn't make much sense to pay serviceable players to not play.
