In my opinion you need the cap dump - Hudon and Sklenicka will propably play in the AHL, they won't count in your cap space but they both can come up and help if needed. Even with the retain, you're saving 3M$.

Maatta isn’t a cap dump player though. I’d do that for JJ.

Maatta would need a 2nd to start if you want retained salary especially

Let's agree to disagree! Nobody's willing to pay a 2nd for a healthy scratch.... Especially a 4M$ healthy scratch...

I honestly don't any of these happening. I guess maybe the Brossoit for Lindgren one but i don't see the point.

Either heavily favor the other team or Montreal. No nice balance in between where both teams feel happy. IMO

Maatta is not a cap dump. Hudon and Scklenika have ZERO value. You think your doing Pittsburgh a service by "taking him off their hands" with retention, with a 4th rounder......man that is not even close to reality.

Aho trade is too much trying to squeeze in things. Adding Weise to any trade makes the other pieces in the trade less valuable. Kulak had a decent showing with Montreal but he is not a lock to be a top 4 or anything. Could easily end up a waiver player again next year. It changes that fast.

Brodie for Shaw IMO doesn't make sense. Why is CGY trading Brodie away? is it because they need more character on the wings or center? Where would Shaw even slot into on the Flames forward group?

Mantha is a nice add but I don;t think your realize the value gong back to Detroit. Danault is a legit second line two way center, Byron is an easy 20+ goals if healthy, plays all situations. Plus two 2nd rounders? Too much to pay for maybe 20-30 goals? We're already almost getting that with just Byron.

I appreciate the feedback and opinion! As for Mantha, I felt getting a bigger winger to play top minutes and maybe save a little bit of salary was a good thing for MTL, and getting 2 strong roster players was a good return for Detroit even if they have less talent.

Thanks!
