TBL TOR Trade - would you

Created by: drumr0213

Description
Leafs fans,

Would you trade Marleau for Killorn?
Marleau is a shorter term which the Lightning need. ie 2020-2021 Vasy, Serg, Cirelli, Cernak
Killorn is a smaller Cap hit which the Leafs need. ie Johnsson, Kapanen, Marner - these kind of creative trades can add up to key resigning(s)

Oh to my fellow Bolts fans that are gonna say we can't afford it. If we can make up teams where we can afford Point and Karlsson than we can afford Point and a "Killorn for Marleau" trade haha.

No way Tampa makes this trade. They still need to sign Point. They're not taking on cap even if it comes off the books soon

Every team we've seen with Point+Karlsson folks have been under paying both. If you fill out the roster you'll see its pretty tight. Will certainly help with next year 12million coming off the books. Curious to see how the whole roster would pan out.

My question is. Is this an underpay from Toronto? Killorn is hardly a capdump, just doesnt sit high on Tampa's pecking order.

Yzerman went after Karlsson (and Tavares) knowing Point resigning is a top priority. JBB managed the Cap for Yzerman. Meaning JBB believes we can manage the Point resigning and Karlsson resigning. If we can do that, then we can afford this. However, I love your feedback that you believe the Bolts won't take on the cap if it comes off the books soon. I try to think of creative ideas and love hearing hockey fans thoughts. Thank you smile

Great thoughts. Yeah, I don't know if it moves the needle for TOR enough however a lot of the teams made by there fans involve Marleau so I figured I'd ask the question. Yeah, I agree on underpayments for the Karlsson + Point teams. Here are my thoughts, I actually don't like the idea of Karlsson in Tampa but if a guy that talented really wants to be here for a rumored large discount. You have to at least test the waters, right? It would have to be a heavy discount to work for Tampa. Like max 8 million per yr kind of discount. I know that is crazy talk and Karlsson is worth way more but if he really wants to be here than its gonna have to work for Tampa.

Im saying Killorn is better. Toronto need to add.

Id more be worried about gambling on his injury. He doesnt look 100% playing for San Jose right now.

Interesting on Killorn. Great feedback smile On EK, I agree with his injuries. At the money we are talking here, it is too much of a risk for Tampa. Maybe not for another team in a different situation than us.

Certainly Killorn uses his NTC not only on the Leafs but any team.

And that is a very fair point. Killorn has negotiated that right. What would say to Killorn waiving to go to his home town Montreal? I would imagine he would get top 6 roll and power play time as well.

Haha, I'm not saying to get EK. It was simply an example that we can make moves for cap space if we need to.
