You sure you want to add a contract with a NMC with the expansion draft coming up?

While Doughty is still a top 5 defencemen in the NHL, I'm not taking that contract on. 11 million for 8 more years? No thanks. Plus Ratcliffe is looking better and better. One season for him in the AHL and he should be ready for the NHL as long as his skating improves. Killer hands for a big man and he can score. Imagine him playing with Frost down the line.

Double that on Ratcliffe. He's been impressive.

Once a player waives the NMC to be traded, isn't it gone for the remainder of the contract?

Even if it was, I still don't want that contract!

I think you can waive it to be traded to a team, and then keep it after that.

Terrible idea. Means we would need to leave either Myers (most likely), Sanheim, or Provorov (least likely) unprotected.
