Description

Trading Reilly Smith makes that bottom 6 start to look pretty thin. Maybe this Gusev kid is the real thing. (Please tell me he's not another Russian right-handed LW in the Ovechkin-Kovalchuk mode who glides down the ice, faces into the center and tries to one-time diagonal passes from the right point.). If Gusev takes $2.5M or less, Las Vegas can re-sign Bellemare for one year or two. And if Colin Miller gets traded at the draft, as many think he will be, Las Vegas could keep Smith or Eakin.

The bottom 6 are too thin, where we need to get rid of defensemen not add with Hague, Whitecloud & Schuldt waiting in the wind.

Both Guzev & Karlsson will probably end up with 500k more each too

I’d like to just make an appreciation post for Mark Stone. My opinion the most underrated winger in the league. Jealous they were able to land him.

I've posted all season about giving up basically whatever for him and that he's clearly a top 5 winger in the league. His point-production is almost secondary in his play as well. I think perception has mostly caught up to his value at this point, but I don't think anyone reasonably has him outside their top-10 wingers list anymore, unless of course that lists consists of 10x Mitch Marner.

I'd prefer they kept Smith and put Gusev on the third line at LW; the drawback to that plan is that trading both Miller and Holden leaves them pretty thin at RhD

Right or wrong, Vegas seems to have married themselves to some long term somewhat high priced contracts. As a result the bottom half are the lineup have to be lower priced players. Finding enough low priced competent NHLers an issue with all teams.
