I think skinner would want more then that. I dont think he would deserve much more but you have the cap space to offer him 1-2 million more.

I also think another guy on d and a 3rd line winger would make the team so much better

That lineup looks pretty stacked, calvert is a great 3rd line winger, compher is an interchangeable 3rd to 2nd line winger, plus they have kaut he turns it on... makar came in and was great in the playoffs, if timmins is healthy he would come in and have a similar impact if he plays to his potential, also graves was a good fill in

Avs D is still really good, they dont need another Dman in UFA, even after moving on from Barrie in this trade. All it would do would block TImmins/Meloche from making NHL roster, especially if they draft Byram. This sets up their expansion draft and roster progression turn over really nicely. The lines are messed up but Martin Kaut would be a 3rd line RW in this case, hes so good defensively already to go with his offensive ability, hes ready for prime time next year

Lines probably would be in this case

Huberdeau Mack Rants
Landy Jost Skinner
Compher Soderberg Kaut
Nieto Kam Calvert

Girard Makar
Cole EJ
Zads Timmins/Meloche

My top 6 would be in this roster:

Huberdeau Mack Rants
Landy Jost Skinner

I still really believe in Jost, and when he played with Landy on a line, they were really impressive. Add in another guy like Skinner and oh boy

I feel like the 2c spot is up for grabs, haven't seen what I want from any of them, including jost, no way I'm touching that big line when there is sufficent 2nd line scoring with hubs and skinner

Do you guys think Barrie is getting moved? It seems to me like they want to hang onto him unless they get an offer they can’t say no to. For me, it would have to be a player like Huberdeau, Nylander, etc. And I’m not a big fan of taking on a bad contract like Reimer in this case. One thing Sakic has done really well over the last couple of years is keep the books clean.

This year showed that if you move a guy like Rants for Landy down off the wings, they still can produce. Kam isnt a 2C, I know its just an open spot but thats probably the last guy to fill that spot. IF anything if you dont want to touch the top line Soderberg with Huberdeau Skinner wingers would be the most loaded top 6 you can do

Sakic said he feels comfortable going into next season with Barrie, Makar, Girard all together, and they are going to talk extension with him. Its been the same message for a few seasons, if teams want barrie you have to offer them a good hockey deal, they arent moving him for futures. I think they are going to try to keep Barrie but they arent goign to let him go as a UFA, they will move him in a hockey trade before that if they cant extend him.

That was the ask apparently at the start of last offseason, Toronto wanted barrie and Sakic said Nylander

I feel like they will keep Barrie unless they can move him for a huberdeau or hall. No chance on moving him for nylander who I dont think is worth it... I chose riemer because they want to sign Bob and need to clear goalie space, the avs have the space for it and it's possible however unlikely that could send riemer to Seattle the year after

Yes but they only moved them up and down because teams where just going out there and trying to shut them down and nobody else was producing, but when they were together they were the top line in the league, you dont mess with that unless they run into a major cold streak... I put kamenev in that spot as another look, he might win it in training camp, big body, skill, who knows, I just know jost was underwhelming and soderberg is amazing as a #3 with calvert on his wing

Jost was one of the better forwards in the playoffs, everytiem he got more ice time and elevated wingers he looked better and better, I think you are really short changing Jost here. Kam if a bottom 6c, hes a good young player but he doesnt have the chops for those sorts of minutes, really doing a major deserve to this roster having Kam over Jost in what are their reversed roles

Like I said, the spot will go to whomever wins in in training camp and even then it's not permanent... the real point to this acgm was trading for hubs and adding skinner, I really dont want to sign hayes, I dont think hes that much of an upgrade over soderberg

Also jost was good in a bottom 6 roll, he showed all year and is not cut out for a top 6 roll as of yet... and all playoffs all I saw was how bad kerfoot was, how good compher was, and rarely noticed jost

I think you are seeing a bit what you want to see, jost was working his tail off too and when main stream media kept on talking about what a good smart little player jost is and impressed with him, he’s was elevating his game the more ice time he got. Compher I needed more from, he went quiet offensively too much as well

I like the 1st and 3rd pair but I haven't seen enough of cole and ej to see if they are good. I would probably put huberdeau as 2c to improve the depth though

It's possible that I am, however 14 games of good play doesnt impress me, maybe if he turned it on down the stretch and had 30-40 amazing games like Barrie and grubauer I'd agree with you, however nobody wants jost to become an amazing 2c more than me, i just dont think hes got it in him, maybe if he had hubs and skinner to carry him.

Cole is a defensive guy, he does his job but it's hard to see. Ej is a former all star, apparently he was hurt, which is his MO... every once and awhile ej comes out of his shell and skates through the whole team and creates chances, problem is it's not near enough
