As a preds fan we love that trade, but I don’t think it’s too over valued. The leafs might have to give up too much to get a needed d man

I agree with loving it from a Nashville perspective. Turris and smith replacements at a cheaper caphit allowing us to move them and make room for a duchene level contract

Not to jump in outta turn, but is Ellis someone who the preds would move on from? I think he'd be a great target for the leafs and would love to see he and Mo as a legit top pairing. But I've read some pieces on how Ellis's contract came together, and even though Poille didnt give him a NTC it seems like it was implied that he's going to be long term pred.

I don’t think they movie him, but words mean little. If it was so implied then why not give him a full ntc or nmc. Doesn’t cost extra.

He supposedly took less to keep the core together, but I’d argue that the core utterly failed and should be altered.

I’m sure you would rather move subban but I would rather any other Dman in the league... I think this trade allows them to move on from a couple of forwards. Ellis might not be thrilled about the taxes but coming back to Toronto may be a small consolation.

I’d personally like to move Ellis. Subban is better even at his inflated price tag. I absolutely hate the Josi/Ellis pairing. Their both great individually but put them together and I just hate it. I also think fabbro would be better suited to replace Ellis then subban

Fabbro is actually the one I want, reminds me of a younger Ellis. Tried a few different trades here but they always seem to get shot down.

he's our only really good RHD prospect. Allard looks promising too but with Subban over 30 and Ellis at 28 we need some young dmen to start setting up the next d group. Also he's much cheaper and replacing him will either cost as much or more.

I would do the same deal for jankrok and fabbro. With Ellis being signed for the next 8 years would certainly give you time to build a prospect pool. Wouldn’t mind adding one of hollowell Duszak or lindgren rather than the 3rd. I’ll even throw in little subban for free lol.
