Why would you buy out Koivu? The guy is one of the best in the league at faceoffs and he can match up against the best in the league with ease. It blows my mind he has never won a Selke, but alas the voters care more about points than what the trophy really stands for. He's a perfect middle 6 C and he has a reasonable contract...

What is that Spurgeon trade... That would be FAR worse than Nino for Rask.

Edit: also you massively overpayed Donskoi, I wouldn't give him more than $3M but I think realistically he'll earn more like $4M - $5M. $6.75M is WAY too much for him

Koivu is so criminally underrated because he's never bee a big point producer. His line routinely shuts down guys like Crosby and McDavid and he gets no credit.

He already traded Nino for Rask, Coyle for Donato (only one that is okay) and Grandlund for Fiala... so there's that.

Those are just "bad" trades?

Hoffman outproduced our whole team last year, love Spurg, just don't think we can keep him and get better quickly upfront. Hard to win when you can't score a goal. It'll hurt less with Dumba coming back healthy, but it'll heart no doubt.

Zucker trade, I think the writing is on the wall (fairly obvious), getting some talent/ promise like the Nino deal back plus another first? I like it. All I'm saying is if it has to happen it would be nice if it wasn't for Frolik. I'd much rather keep Zucker.

The Rask trade is a win for us if Spurg is out.

The Koivu comment, I don't disagree that he's a solid player, but in opinion our young guys are hampered with how much we put Koivu out there, even Ek started to show something when he went down.

Maybe these trades are terrible, but I believe this is a better team than what we saw last year. Just my two cents man.

Also, Donskoi is an over payment for sure, but it's free agency and we have to outbid for service. Especially with how the Wild performed last year. I think we can understand that.

Just a little early to call Granlund for Fiala a bad trade. I wish Fenton got more for Granlund, but Fiala is still developing and has a lot of potential.

That's fair on Fiala. I just hope he can figure out his consistency issues, he has it all that's for sure.

Speaking of Ek, did you forget to re-sign him?
