Win win TBL and BUFF

Created by: BOLTLOVER1
Team: 2019-20 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 2, 2019
Published: Jun. 2, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Tampa doesnt need #1 LD and PP lead .. Hedmen the man .. Sergachev was #9 1st round pick and fits perfectly in Buffalo and is needed now .. Tampa avoids potential 2020 cap issue AND grabs the #7 pick as there not real need for more young guys now and cap goes down. Tampa can pick a different type of player for future culture change
Trades
TBL
  1. 2019 1st round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Buffalo has 2 firsts anyway but needs players and has cap room to sign/overpay Sergachev now
BUF
  1. Sergachev, Mikhail
Additional Details:
Dont see him as anchor D .. odd fit at 3rd LD behind Hedmen and Mc Donough .. trade value highest right about now

buffalo says no.. you say yourself you don't see Sergachev as an "anchor" dman.. i would project him as a top 4 dman. So buffalo won't trade 7th overall for a Top 4 Dman, when depending on how the draft goes they could get a Top 6 FWD or maybe even Byram Bowen (thats who i want) who is projected as a Top 2 possibly Number 1 defenseman.. I could see Buffalo possibly doing this trade:

To BUF ---- Sergachev
To TBL ---- Nylander, Nelson, Larsson 2020 2nd rounder

They need to move salary out though, this won't work either. The only reason for them to make the original trade is because it is so strongly in their favor.

Tampa doesn't need role players.. the point you not getting is you desperately NEED a top 2D and PP lead and Sergachev can be that for you just not Tampa .. if you don't get Eichel help you will never make the playoffs. A first round pick is 2 years away .. optimistically .. amazing how people dont think strategically .. sometimes you under pay and sometimes you overpay.. it's called synergies created in the real world .. for example the LAST thing Tampa needs is a small skilled forward regardless how good he is or the deal at hand.

We have dahlin on the left. Behind him we have pilut, mccabe, some crappy vet lhds, and several- probably too many- recent draft picks. If your point is that we dont have a difference maker on the left side, what is rasmus dahlin? The right side is far weaker but montour should be a competent rhd on the pp whether ristolainen gets moved or not. Im sure you arent considering cernak available, and i wouldnt move 7oa for foote. Ill save your rebuttal, theres no fit here, i guess we will just continue to suck without sergachev.

Nah no one player is critical in NHL .. but if I BUFFALO GM .. you need to trade for younger guys with 2 to 3 years NHL experience .. not older ones to fit in or prospects .. very few UFAs will go to Buffalo so I would stockpile young talent in trades around the RFA stage

Very true. In my opinion, we need- a rhd that is competent in his own end, a middle 6 center that knows where his zone is, and probably 3 wingers to put the puck in the net. There isnt much untouchable on our roster, but deals have to make sense, and unfortunately, we are short pieces that actually have trade value. Also, best of luck, you have the best team in the league, you should definitely have at least one cup in the near future, just dont let toronto get by you and were square.

Agree with above and why I think JT Miller from Tampa fits perfectly on virtually all dimensions with Buffalo .. he is suboptimized here in Tampa but still had 50 points .. but even I don't think he worth the #7 .. him and Risto straight up in trade works for both as Risto is big Nordic D fit we have here in Tampa .. and despite the "graph guy" showing how much he sucks .. he can fit in Tampa game plan and with the D talent much easier as he could be exposed with Buffalo with marginal talent

I've been promoted from Dysneylander to graph guy, that's a honor smile

Ristolainen is bad defensively, period. Maybe a change of scenery and less offensive tasks could benefit him, but it definitely would a huge gamble.
