the rebuilding Habs mortgage their future for one year of Hall just before he goes UFA, why not just wait one more year and sign him as a free agent

given hall isnt re-signing and this likely is at the TDL its highly unlikely he gets a roster player or a high end pick .

you're more likely to see Evans , Fleury a 1st and a 2nd . 2 B+ to A- level prospects and 2 quality picks will be enough to out big other teams .
if you're paying that much in the summer for Hall that's just nuts unless it comes with a Contract agreement like Stone's and Pacioretty's did . (Hall wont get more unsigned then they did signed)
