Niskanen moved to add depth

Created by: staytru20
Team: 2019-20 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 6, 2019
Published: Jun. 6, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Note on MoJo - in this world, the Caps want to add a better 2-way presence on the right wing. MoJo has the offensive chops, and excels at zone entries on the PP, something the Caps have really struggled with since his departure.

VAN

Additional Details:
Word out of Vancouver is that they want to try to contend. Bura is young enough to fit into the mold of the young core of the team. VAN does this because they could miss out on Bura on the UFA market, and a mid and late round pick to retain his rights (and have plenty of cap space) to have him contribute on a second line with Horvat.

Good job. These trades are perfect value wise.

Vancouver might not want to move picks yet... Goldobin for Bura flys well with most people.

Apparently the ownership group has gotten impatient and wants to make the playoffs, and is okay with moving draft picks. I think Goldobin is a risk because he's been rumored to want to go back to Russia. At this point, I think it's picks or nothing for Bura, and the Caps take their chances in trying to sign him as a UFA after non-tendering him.

If Vancouver wants Bura they can out bid the Caps in free agency and keep their picks.

That's definitely a possibility, but all indications are that Bura wants to stay a Cap. If he hits FA, the Caps would have the advantage in re-signing him at a lower rate. Honestly, it comes down to what Bura wants - playing on a team that can compete for a SC, or Vancouver, a fringe rebuilder, where he can get paid a bit more and play in the top 6.

Do you think Dallas just signed Janmark to then trade him to someone in a few weeks? I guess it's possible...

Actually adds some security to a trade, because you know you have him under contract as the team receiving the asset.
