Figuring the Goal of GMJR

Created by: Nights_King93
Team: 2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 7, 2019
Published: Jun. 7, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Get cheaper bottom 6F and bottom 2 D-Men while getting a great 2nd pairing.
I left over 2 million for more retained cap or if my "signings" are off by a bit. Not perfect, but would shake up whatever was wrong with the locker room this year.

Yeah, I kept that pick instead of trading it. (The initial reason why I tried to make it a part of that deal) Showing that the deal might be able to get done without it. Unless Vegas clears some cap of their own they aren't taking Gudbranson either. Such is life. The first domino that falls will change everything up.

Yeah, but if they don't get that pick they will get something other than that pick. The rights to Kerfoot and a second isn't enough to get Phil. So maybe another young prospect with some value, a different pick. Something. I moved a lot of picks so there is room to mix it up.

Or Avs arent going to move any 2019 first round picks for Kessel...there is that scenario that they arent interested in him so you might be Barking up the wrong tree.

I think it is very possible that the Avs do try to get Kessel. He isn't going to cost them 10 mill like Panarin. They need to strike while Landeskog and Mackinnon are still affordable. Who knows what Rantanen's bridge deal will be. Now is the time to strike for the Avs. They have youth. They have cost-effective superstars. Ya might just be surprised my friend. Here is to hoping we get a Crosby-Mackinnon faceoff in the Finals in the near future. I'd love to see the two of them go head to head.

They don't have to empty the tank this offseason, and if they want, they could throw 10m at Panarin and still have cap space after all their RFAs are signed.
I just dont see it, unless they strike out on all their UFA targets. Even then, Sakic has been all about youth and fit and indenty when it comes to their players target, Kessel doesnt fit that. If they want to add a Top 6 forward in a trade its bc they are moving on from Barrie, not draft picks and prospects.

Ya know Kessel would be a good addition in Colorado, they'd still need a 2C which aren't easy to find but Kessel could be the difference the Avs need.

I am not trying to be aggressive, if I am that is my mistake, but I thought it was pretty clear about my points. Made the point about how the 4th isnt available and then Nights_King93 continues to try to talk like Avs would agree to that trade, which they wouldnt, just trying to get the point across

He would be a last resort type of move, dont think hes an ideal fit in Colorado with that group of guy, age, I would worry about how his attitude fits under Bednar. Stylistically on the ice right now he would fit, I would have my doubts about him fitting into a very tight locker room that Landeskog, Mack, and Johnson command

The Avs are on the cusp of being contenders if they aren't already, Kessel would push them into contender status.
What I wonder about is if Kessel is the issue in Pittsburgh or if Sullivan is? Every coach has a shelf life and maybe he's reached his and he's using Kessel as a scapegoat to keep his job.

IM sure Kessel would be fine in the end but Avs would have to do a lot of due diligence before they start thinking of such a move. Going through the Duchene thing and upsetting the balance in the room bw him and MacKinnon, they would want to make sure its known that this is Macks team.

But if anyone who knows Kessel it would be Erik Johnson and if he buts the seal on it as part of the leadership group, then they would be all set

So any word on what the real problem was with Duchene when he was with the Avs?

Him and Mack did not like one another, just a locker room divide. Dutch wanted to be the guy, the voice etc. Lots of comments of afterwards of guys feeling like they can be themselves now. I think Dutch just spent too much time under Roy, Iginla, Beauchemin etc and was that old school type of leader and it wasn't translating
