If I'm nashville, I'd rather keep tolvanen and the 2nd and just trade subban to toronto for that return. Tolvanen, nylander, zaitsev, 2nd > one year of Hall

At this point, I think any trade with Hall would likely be with a pre-agreed contract like Stone/ Pacioretty. Since it would get the Devils more in return for Hall and more teams would be willing to trade for him if the could try and talk an extension beforehand.

You would hope so. Even signed long term, I may prefer the cost of nylander/tolvanen to that of Hall. Tough call - he's a great player but gets injured more than I like. If tolvanen rounds out and can put up 30g/30a seasons and Nylander turns back into that 60-70 point player, that may be better long-term.
