Long term? Perry, Smith and the buyout of Callahn are all just two years-- we won't be serious competitors most likely anyway, but that anaheim trade is brutal for the rangers.. it's more like they give away a 1st to get rid of his full contract with nothing returned

open up the buyout calculator and you'll see that the buyout length is 2*'s the length of the contract left. buying out callahan is 2 years since his contract is only for one more year. Buying out smith is the 4 years, but there is enough cap there to retain him for the other two .

the Ranger's should not consider a single buy out right now. keep everyone and take on any bad contract they can get their hands on that has 2 years or less on it.

I don't get the Strome deal or the Howden deal....

Thought about making it Howden plus a 2nd but everyone acts like top ten pick is gold so upgraded it to the late first.

Sobotka was to get an extra pick and his money off buffalos books. Could buy him out instead of smith and send smith to the Wolfpack instead. We strike out on panarin we should target bad contracts to continue to retool our system
