Martinez has positive value as a player. Therefore, the Maple Leafs would have to provide two elements of compensation to the Kings: one for the cost of accepting Marleau's cap hit, and one for Martrinez' on-ice value. So you're at least two second-round picks and some salary retention short on this transaction.
