How would Hoffman look

Description
Different Idea. Outside the box. Not gonna happen.

If Florida manages to sign both Pan and Bob and wanted to move Hoffman, what would it be worth to pick him up for a couple years to add scoring? Both teams have the space to resign but just a thought.
He scored a lot on a crappy Ottawa team for years.
If some of the young guns need more time he would be consistent I think. And if he signs the right contract length he could be a good fit.

The trade scenario is just there as a starting point. Add another Russian to the mix.

definitely. i put it as a starting point seeing how many russians Florida would have. what else would you add? I didn't want to throw a bad vet contract cause we know it wouldn't work. Maybe a prospect Dman added?

Only way FLA accepts that trade is if you throw in the 6th overall pick.

Svech and a 6th would get Hoffman? I figured another decent young player and/or a higher pick still. not bad. I'll edit it. Add CBJ's 5th.

Yeah, I agree, definitely not enough for Hoffman. I think he is a really good winger and would slot in great, but I would hope all that drama in Ottawa is over with and he wouldn't bring it to Detroit.
Adding a 5th to the deal is not close enough. A 5th round pick is a very undervalued asset and usually doesn't amount to an impact player in the NHL. I would think a 2nd round pick, maybe the NYI pick (54), would potentially get it done. Svechnikov is slightly injury prone and hasn't had the best start to his development. He is relatively untested at the NHL level, so Florida would really have to think that he will translate his game to the NHL.

I think a 2nd is pretty close too. And it's funny also cause Hoffman was a 5th round pick. lol. the 5th may turn out better than Svech. ha.

I think Detroit would take the deal. Svechnikov has had a tough start to his career but is still really young and has the skill to be a top 6 guy. Adding Hoffman would really help the 2nd line. I agree wings may have to add, I wouldn't give up anymore then a 3rd or a mid tier prospect like givani smith.

If Florida manages to get both Panarin and Bob, Svech would feel at home and develop better I would think.

Beyond equal value. Hoffman will turn 30 in Nov and that seems to be contrary to the Wings rebuilding through a core of youth. And he's an UFA next summer. Why giveaway the pick and the prospect for a rental player.

I get what you're saying. I don't know exactly what Hoffman is worth.
the idea would be to resign him for maybe another 2 years giving them a 25-35 goal scorer while Zadina and those guys develop. Then Hoffman would be around 32yr old and still have time to join another team. I would rather Hoffman than Nyquist returning for instance. And someone like Helm would have to be moved.
