That's hardly "helping" the sharks. Vlasic is a valuable shutdown defenseman, one of the best in the league. It would take a lot more than a bottom pairing defenseman in Kulak and a second to get him from the sharks. They realized that they're in cap hell after dishing out so much money to Karlsson, but I dont see them moving out Vlasic as the solution. I would say that Nyquist is all but gone as a UFA, Donskoi as well, and they will likely deal Braun to a team in need of a 4-5 defenseman capable of playing a shutdown role. If they want to bring back Pavelski, Thornton, and extend Meier and Labanc, Doug Wilson will need to get creative.

Agreed. I dont agree with what the Sharks have done, but they knew the ramifications of these contracts and have some sort of plan.

If they decide they don't want to spend 26.5 mil on 3 defensemen in their 30s. Vlasic would be the one they would move. But they certainly wouldn't give him away. It would probably take 2 top prospects and 2 1sts. Or something close to that.

Also Vlasic has a no move clause. So, it would have to be a trade that he wants. He is from Montreal, so maybe he does waive. It I'm in his shoes/skates I would only waive to go to Tampa because of tax saving and getting to play with that roster.
