Of course not, we'd never trade Kadri for a guy who's a UFA in a year.

VGK are a million over cap and Miller was a healthy scratch. They're not getting anything more for him without retaining cap.
Brown is and has always been unappreciated and underrated. On a wing with McDavid, he would light it up (ala Leivo). Also, players dont want to go to EDM. They have to pay "freezing my ass off tax".

The Oilers pay "freeze my ass off tax" to the player in FA...not to the team in the trade. aka, teams dont get extra compensation for trading players to places like Edm/Winnipeg. if that was the case, every Gm would just trade with them knowing the get the better deal always.

Yes and No. Yes, it deters free agents from going there. But also, likely 9 of every 10 players with a 2-10 team 'No Trade List' has Edmonton squarely at #1. This cuts a significant portion of the remaining available players who Edmonton can trade for. I think EDM'd be happy to raise their offer a bit more than market value than teams who wouldn't be on the 'no trade' list (i.e. LA, TAM, DAL, even AZR).

Sure, but you are saying Oiler's need to pay a 2nd to get Brown whom doesn't even have a no movement clause because it is cold in Edmonton.

I am not blind to the fact that their is this "tax" but that does not apply when trading player that doesn't own a NMC. Like think about it, if what you are saying applies, then why isn't everyone trading with Edmonton knowing that you can get an extra round for a player based on some "Freeze your ass off tax" that has zero affect on the trading organization?
