Quoting: Wildwinswhen
I've revised it to Rd 1 just in case. I never saw a report of which pick it was. But it doesn't matter. I agree that even if it's a first, yuck.
Word is that Calgary couldn't take on Zucker's cap hit long term.
I'm not sure if it ever was reported, I just remember hearing that the rumor was it was a 1st. This "trade" pisses me off since it was a fleecing by Calgary in the first place and everyone on this site now uses it as a framework. Sabres fans have been making Sheary and 31 overall for Zucker for a month now (yuck) and now Vancouver fans are doing Baertschi and a 2nd trades (double yuck). If those are the returns for Zucker, might as well strap in for a looooong rebuild.
Here's the latest article on Zucker, fresh off the press from Michael Russo:
"The Buffalo Sabres and Vancouver Canucks are two teams that have been in hot pursuit of Zucker. But looking at each of their rosters and reserve lists, it’s hard to see a lot of intriguing options that would make the Wild better immediately.
Arizona has always shown interest in Zucker, but it’s been indicated that they won’t give up Christian Dvorak, and Christian Fischer doesn’t seem enough to get it done. We know Pittsburgh and Calgary showed recent interest, and the Wild have talked to them about Sam Bennett and Michael Frolik.
Plus, there are surely others we don’t have any clue about. So, Fenton probably has no shortage of options, which is why Zucker is so high on everybody’s trade-bait board."
