Controversial jets moves

Created by: masterjuddi
Team: 2019-20 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 21, 2019
Published: Jun. 21, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
To start, please remember this is just a simulation created to spark debate. Don't hate me.
This trade is done after Chevvy does everything he possibly can to re-sign Laine to a deal best suited for both the team and player.
Not sure if the haul from the Flyers is too much or too little, either way the jets get a 2nd line C for 3 more seasons, a gritty bottom 6 winger in Hartman, a good prosect in Strome and an up and coming RSD in Myers

It's much too much for the Flyers to give up. Couturier on his own is already probably about on par with Laine's value, if not more. He's a 76 point center the past two years, a 30 goal scorer, is absolutely unreal defensively (that's the thing Laine doesn't know how to play) and is on a ridiculously amazing contract. On top of that, you're adding a solid 3rd liner, a really exciting RHD prospect for Philly, and a 2nd. Comrie looks solid, sure, but that's maybe the 2nd at most. Flyers would never do it because Couturier is just more valuable to any team that has him than Laine would be.

For sure. It's so hard to place value on Laine right now, whereas you know what Couturier is and the value he has. I think Laine has this "generational talent" label that excites fans, as it should, but in reality I think a guy like Couturier is more valuable

why?
If you're creating a fake trade and need to make room and teams have only a certain amount of roster spots
