He is not getting traded. With that contract he is staying. Say bye to Marner.

Yeah, I talked to Dubas earlier, he told me Nylander's contract was specifically designed to be traded to Carolina after July first.
That's why we took the Marleau buyout, it's essentially Nylander's contract this year

I don't know why folks get so caught in press conferences that Dubas had months ago. At no time did he said publicly that Nylander would not get traded. Gee Marleau and a written contract with NMC, and he got traded.

Not sure if that came across, but that was mostly sarcastic,
I don't honestly believe Dubas negotiated Nylander's contract with specific intent to trade him to Car a year later.

However, I do honestly believe Dubas will keep Marner over Nylander, and he would move him for a top pair RHD
and with the structure of Nylander's contract (almost 50% of the cash paid by July 1st)
The just makes perfect sense here. just my opinion.

Side note - can we stop with the Varlamov crap. The more you post him to us in these ACGMs, the more you will it into existence. He hasn’t been good since 2013-2014, which just so happened to coincidence with getting a big payday. Why don’t you just give that money to Curtis Mac, at least you know what you are getting.

Nylander is staying with Leafs for at least 2019 imo

I'll agree trading Nylander makes sense. But it will more of a cap move, and not for top RHD. Next year the Leaf will have there cap straighten around and maybe their roster. Then it will be the time to solidify the defence. Just don't think the Leafs can trade their way into contenders this year.

Quite happy thanks. I shifted my focus with so many other comments about Nylander. I think we should find a way to move Faulk vs Dougie.
