Description

Edmonton wants to reshape their blue line with more skill. Colorado is trying to build a 2nd line. Colorado has a surplus of puck moving defensemen. Edmonton has a surplus of top six centers.

The concern for both teams should be term. Barrie only has one year left, so an extension should be a requirement for Edmonton to pull the trigger. Nugent-Hopkins has 2 years left, which is potentially more challenging. His contract would expire at the same time as Gabe Landeskog and Cale Makar. That’s not to say Colorado won’t be able to afford to resign him, but that shapes up to be an expensive summer.

Alright, this trade in practice makes sense, but in value it doesn't in the slightest. You need to send Edmonton back either a top 50 pick or some decent prospect for them to even consider this. Keep in mind RNH has an extra year, and overall is the more valuable player.

Ya but the original description states a Barrie extension is a requirement
