Yikes, If I was Tampa I'd stay far away from that bloated Risto contract.

With Tampa's cap situation they almost have to trade Gourde and get no NHL returned in a trade. So while Risto and Gourde might be a fair trade, Tampa's cap situation might be that type of deal impossible to do.

Sabres have 2 too many RD .. with Miller now on PP .. Risto has zero chance of not being traded .. based on Miller return of a 3rd and a 5th .. Risto isnt going to be that expensive. RISTO is no Trouba .. If Bolts can get Burrie would. E great be he will cost alot more

The reason miller went for a 3rd and 5th was because vegas needed to shed cap. Buffalo isnt in that situation. I doubt buffalo gives ristolainen away this year. I'm betting they would hold on to him and hope he has a bounce back year.

I don’t think you can ever have enough right shot defenseman.....teams are always looking for them, especially considering most years Bogosian is only good for 50 games. When Bogosian is out, all of a sudden you have only Montour and Miller as your right shot D if you trade Ristolainen and Bogosian is hurt. Sure you also have Casey Nelson and can call up Borgen, but you can thin on D quickly.

Buffalo can easily keep Ristolainen if they choose to. Colin Miller has played quite a bit on his offside in the past and I’m sure could do it again.

I think Bogosian or would be the preferred moves here in their final years.

If you keep Ristolainen, what team would be able to produce offense from the blue line the way Buffalo may be able to?

Ristolainen with Dahlin, Montour, and Miller? Let’s not forget about if Pilut becomes a factor? They also could still use Ristolainen’s physicality back there. MILLER could be used to reduce Ristolainens role and ice time

That’s a great deal Buffalo, they need a centerman, and unfortunately there aren’t many available unless you plan on taking a chance on Kyle Turris. Matt Duchene is not happening.

if they are doing it for cap reasons, they will probably need to take something back.
