Why not offersheet a D

Created by: Jah1722

Initial Creation Date: Jul. 5, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
All these offersheet rumors for fwds why shouldn’t a team like the ducks, who could use a D, offersheet a young one. I offersheeted McAvoy because he’s probly the best fit for the ducks as a 21 yr old RD but Provarov and Trouba could be candidates and even Carlo or Deangelo to a lesser extent.

BOSTON has 10.2M to sign McAvoy, Carlo, and Heinen

RANGERS have 8.02M to sign Trouba, Deangelo, Buchnevic and Lemiux.

PHILLY has 15M to sign Provarov, Konecny and Laughton who’s arb eligible.

Rangers seem to be in the worst cap situation but Trouba was just traded there so that might make it hard to get him to agree to sign. McAvoy is a boston kid having went to college there so he’d probly want to stay but maybe money talks.

All that said it’s probly be hard to actually get any of them on an offersheet as the teams would just match with 10% overage in the offseason and just figure out other moves to get cap compliant before the season. But one could hope.

By all means, offersheet trouba and overpay so that the rangers get your 2 unprotected 1st round picks as well as a 2nd and 3rd rounder. We only paid a late 1st and a terrible defenseman for him. Then the rangers can sign their rfas and go out and get a dman from within their organization and take the rebuild a little longer but have more assets to use...

To get Trouba it’ll only take a 1st, 2nd, and a 3rd. He’s 25 give him 8.5M for 5yrs.

McAvoy (and Gusev, Schuldt and, in the future, Makar) can't be offer-sheeted. And I swear I didn't see this team post until I had done my offer-sheet for DeAngelo.

I hadn't thought about Provorov.

Trouba for the Aho deal would be a great idea, even if an overpay, because we need the RD help so badly.

Is that because he didn’t play in the regular season when he burned the first year off his ELC?

Trouba would more than likely not accept that offer, would want the term more than anything as this would be his last chance for big money more than likely. Not to mention his wife is in medical school and wants to stay in 1 place and that wont happen if he gets a 5 year deal

McAvoy can't accept an offer sheet. He's classified as 10.2c RFA
