Centeman audition

Created by: MTLaveragefan
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 8, 2019
Published: Jul. 8, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
put KK, RP and NS on a line... each player plays a period at C.

Could be fun to watch :)

- also I think Suzuki's best shot at making the team is if he is able to make the PP work.

I don't like Poehling on the wing. It's either Center in the NHL or Top center in Laval for me.

Suzuki and Poehling could both play in the NHL this year and neither of them would have to be protected in the expansion draft.

Are you sure... the rule is two full seasons... with at least 40 games the previous year (to the expansion draft). If they play 2019-2020 and 2020-2021... well those conditions are met buddy

I'm not going to sit here and argue with you buddy, but yes I'm sure. If you don't believe me just check with all the experts, a simple goggle search should do it.

I love the passive-aggressive use of "buddy" ahahah. Well, I've read the FAQ about the draft here on Capfriendly. Personally, I hope you are right for the Habs' sake. MEdia here were saying it was a potential reason why RP would play in laval next year.

So it just occurred to me that you can do a mock expansion draft right on this website. Just go to that page and scroll down to the Habs and you will see that both Suzuki and Poehling are on their exempt list.

right now sure... but would it change if they play two full season before the exp. draft?

No. I can't begin to explain how it works and I get what you are saying and that it seems confusing. But all the articles I have read say those two will be exempt no matter what happens the next two years. Also it wouldn't matter if they played in Laval or not because its not an NHL season, it's a professional season which is any NHL Standard Player Contract, so seasons in the AHL and ECHL would count.

I believe the reason is that even though the expansion draft will take place after Suzuki and Poehling have played their 2nd seasons they will still be considered 2nd year pros until they play 11 games in their 3rd season, at which point they would then be 3rd season pros. Kinda confusing I guess, but it makes sense when you think about it.

In those terms - players who have less than 2 years (inclusively) pro are exempt : [0, 2] E N instead of [0, 2 E N

At the end of the day 1st and 2nd years pros are exempt according to the FAQ on this site and in two seasons Suzuki and Poehling will be 2nd years pros, therefore anyway you want to cut it they won’t have to be protected.
