Johnson and a 1st for Forbort

Created by: Quavo
Team: 2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 16, 2019
Published: Jul. 16, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Out of all the trades we could make to free up cap space and improve the defense this one is the best. Forbort is a solid defensive defenseman who would look great next to Letang or Schultz with surprisingly good offensive ability while playing on the Kings. I know a first is a lot to give up but the Penguins really need to be all in at this point

I would 100% do this trade. Forbort is a lot better than Johnson and we'd have 3 good D on the left side as well.
Re-sign Forbort next season with the Schultz money and we just need to find one RD.

If LA is willing to do this that would be great. I'd even be willing to add a little if needed.

I'd think they would considering they are going through a rebuild and have Bjornfot, Clague, and Durzi waiting in the wings and if they're in cap trouble 2-3 years later they could just buy out Johnson or trade him since the term is what makes his contract so bad

Yeah I agree. If they're willing to admit it's rebuild time it makes sense for both teams. I also think I read somewhere that LA was one of the couple teams that wasn't opposed to getting JJ.

Plus don't forget there were like 5 other teams who wanted to sign him in 2018 which is why we had to give him 5 years. There are suitors it's just a question of whether JR actually wants to trade him

i think 1.6 will get you petterson but i like it. la or anaheim seem to be only likely dumping spots for JJ

Not for 4 years it won't and I think he's worth 4 years considering he had a very good year playing with Johnson and Gudbranson

okay prob bet on himself and think hes worth 5/6 in two years-either way-still gotta find a dumping spot for JJ or this is a moot point.

@mhockey91 i agree

Forbort a negative plus minus and he's a giveaway machine. Not good defenseively. And offensively, he has never scored over 18 points which isnt great offensive work. And its not like he missed huge chunks of games either.and pettersson is being overpayed here.

Have you ever taken into account that plus minus is a useless statistic and he plays on the Kings who are one of the worst offensive teams in the NHL?

Compare him to Johnson and see what you get

What i get from that is that forbort is better at
regaining possession
and winning the puck

But johnson is better at
not giving the puck away
and puck movement
and shooting
and passing
and possession
