Point would want $11 million to play in Buffalo, And the discussion ends there.

Sabres would be happy to pay him 11 million. Eichel at 10 for 8 is turning out to be a steal of signing already.

Not a good source but if wanted to stay so bad why isn’t he signed?

If he wanted to leave he would have signed the MTL offer sheet. As for signing refer to Marner, Laine and Tkachuk as well

If we trade Point for Ristolainen, I'm giving up hockey.

You must Be blind because there was Cozens (7th overall this year) and Tage Thompson and a first round pick

Buffalo has Eichel, Skinner, Dahlin, and one of the best prospect systems in the NHL. If they add Point, that 1st round pick won't mean very much. I obviously did see that Tage Thompson and Cozens were involved in the trade, but I don't think Thompson has ever really been that impressive. He was a low 1st round pick and now has 21 points in 106 NHL games (and 29 points in 54 AHL games). Dylan Cozens has value, but the Lightning are a team in win-now mode and replacing Point with a player that has potential to reach Point's level in a few seasons from now wouldn't make sense. Ristolainen carries a relatively high cap hit with term and is awful defensively. He may not play on the best team ever, but analytics suggest that he actively makes his team even worse in all situations except the power play. It's safe to say that the Lightning don't need any more help there. I don't know why there are rumors that the Lightning are interested in Ristolainen, but we don't have the need nor cap room for him, and trading Point for him is insanely stupid, even if it means that in a few years we might have a player who can replace him.
