McCabe> Scandella. They only sign Gardiner if they can get rid of at least 2 bad contracts (Bogo Scandella)

NO, N O, Winnipeg is not going to trade Ehlers for Risto, that has never been a rumor, the rumor was like Roslovic and Perrault, and that was only a guy writing like a blog about the sabres and said that would make sense for both teams (from what I understand, all i know is that it would be a horrible trade for WPG if all they get back for Ehlers is Risto)

I'm afraid ristolainen won't be going to the jets. Ehlers to me is better, and there isn't much cap savings for the jets. It would probably have to be bigger with something nice and cheap from buffalo and something older and more expensive coming from the jets. More likely is something like perreault and roslovic which isn't nearly as exciting. Hopefully botterill learned a valuable lesson about taking what teams are perfectly fine with giving you for a good player on a bad team.

It was more than a blog. It is legit confirmed on twitter that Ehlers has at least been brought up as a possibility to get the trade done. Buffalo will not go for a Roslovic, Perrault deal. They have too many depth guys now and those are more or less cap dumps for the Jets. Buffalo already did that in the ROR trade.

I strongly believe Risto wont be moved if its not for a player similar to Ehlers. The Sabres already did a trade for depth last year with St Louis. I truly dont see them adding more players when we already have too many on the roster as it is. If its not Ehlers, the trade wont get done.

I have never seen that, the only thing I ever saw a link to was a blog type thing/fan page, but either way Risto is not even close to Ehlers' value

Ristolainen straight up for Ehlers is a garbage trade for the Jets, so is this Perreault, Roslovic for Ristolainen idea too.

With Pionk and Niku.....i'd personally rather just go with them and keep the young forward

Yes that's exactly what they should do.

Niku was I think one of the AHL's best defenseman and Pionk is a very capable NHL defenseman. I really don't see the need for Ristolainen here, especially to take on salary.

If Winnipeg really wants Ristolainen,
Actually, I would say it's Winnipeg that would be reluctant to give up Roslovic. I'd also say the mistake Botterill made was settling for Tage Thompson. Roslovic is a much better prospect than Tage Thompson IMO, and on Buffalo, he instantly competes with Casey Mittelstadt for middle six center minutes. The player I think Buffalo really wanted in the ROR deal was Robert Thomas, or even Jordan Kyrou, which would have been much better. Matheiu Perrault HAS to apart of any Ristolainen deal for the salary unless they can move him prior. Eventhough Perrault is a throw in/ salary dump here, he is still a much better player than Patrik Berglund and Vladimir Sobotka.

Nothing is happening until they get Laine and Connor signed though.

I do think Buffalo will try to push "key word" push (not actually happen) to acquire a guy like Andrew Copp or Adam Lowry to also be apart of the deal, and I wouldnt be suprised if WPG pushed for Buffalo to retain a small amount of salary/

Yes that's my thoughts, not so sure about Pionk but would rather give him a shot and see what happens then trade Roslovic or Ehlers for a defenseman and really if you add up what Perreault and Roslovic make its not even what Risto makes so it provides no cap relief for the Jets. Risto and Thompson are a little more than Ehlers salary so no cap relief with that scenario either.
Also adding Ristolainen would give the Jets 8 defensemen so unless there's one going to Buffalo that's one too many and I doubt the Sabres want either of Kulikov or Beaulieu back.. Lol
I fully expect both Niku and Poolman to be full time Jets so unless they plan on carrying 8 dmen (which I suppose is possible) or another trade of a defenseman out happens I don't see how this is gonna work.
I like Ristonlainen but I'd much rather the Jets keep their young talent and keep building for the future, adding Ristolainen doesn't suddenly make them a contender again.
